My Story

Ahoy sailors! Thank you for visiting my small seafarer-owned Scottish business. If you have any questions, or problems or are not entirely satisfied with your purchase, please do not hesitate to contact me anytime on the contacts page.

I founded Great Harbour Gifts as seafarers both commercial and leisure, have never been well catered for with gift wise. Most nautical gifts on the market today are designed by land lubbers who have never actually been to sea. Unlike other nautical gift companies, we are proudly seafarer-owned and operated.

Recently retired I spent nearly 25 years sailing around the world both Deepsea and coastal. Sailing on ships in Europe, the Pacific, North America and both the polar regions of the Arctic and Antarctic. Originally starting as a deck rating and working my way up to Bosun and eventually deck officer. Over the years I served with some of the most famous shipping lines in the world. Including the Peninsular & Orient Steam Navigation Company (P&O), Sun Cruises, Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA), British Antarctic Survey (BAS), National Oceanography Centre (NOC), SAGA Cruise Lines, Thompson Cruise Lines, Scottish fisheries protection agency (Marine Scotland) and sailing as navigator on the world's last Royal Mail passenger-cargo ship (RMS ST HELENA) to name but a few. I draw upon my years of seagoing experience, life at sea and a seafarer's cheeky sense of humour in all my unique, colourful, and quirky nautical gift designs.

If you are at sea, ashore or just love the ships, thank you for checking out my little shop.
